Tony Matterhorn, aka Mr Fullyloaded, started his career alongside Babyface on the King Addies Sound. He choose a solo career and became of the best clash dj’s around and top jugglin’ acts, renowned to ‘demolish all competition’. ‘Dutty Wine’, one of dancehall’s greatest recent tunes established him as a great artist as well. But luckily he remains a ‘sound system man’, who will without doubt set the dancehall on fire!
Friday 00.30 – 03.00 Tony Matterhorn warm up by V Rocket - Dancehall Supasonic is a… well, the Porsche of German dancehall. Everybody knows, without exaggerating, that German dancehall is already top in Europe. Originally the sound of one man, Michael Panzer, it is now the home of 5 warriors: Panza, Spider, Uzzla, Jnr Blender and Danny Fyah. In Europe they won one battle after the other and on the ‘War inna di East’ events organized by their colleagues Herb-A-Lize It they virtually laid their hand on the cup before even performing. They have also been producing for quite some time but if it’s up to them they prefer being on stage, spinning dancehall and soca, from Africa to Jamaica. On Saturday they will close our Bounce Dancehall stage.
Saturday 02.00 – 04.00 Supersonic - Dancehall
Saxon Sound is one of Britain’s most popular sound systems and can be regarded as of one the trendsetters of modern dancehall. They were also the sound that gave birth to a great number of English reggae stars: Tippa Irie, Maxi Priest, Papa Levi… they all got their degree at Saxon’s university and continued their careers with releases on major music labels. Chris Cracnell, the boss of 'Greensleeves' label showed his respect to Saxon by creating them a sublabel: UK Bubblers. Saxon was the first sound to release a live-album: ‘Coughing up Fire’. Since their early days Musclehead, Trevor Sax and Mikey Boops won one sound clash after the other. In ’94 they became world champions by beating Jamaican top sound Bodyguard. At Reggae Geel they will be accompanied by Papa Levi, the first British Jamaican to enter the Jamaican charts.
Saturday 22.00 – 00.30 Saxon Sound Studio feat. Papa Levi - Dancehall
Lord Zeljko is one of the pioneers of the European sound system scene, although slightly forgotten over the recent years. So, the time is now to give the man back what him belongs! Spreading the reggae message long before hip sound boys where even born; the first in Europe to cut dub plates with Jamaican MC’s and defining Paris and France as one of the top reggae places in the world; the first man on the continent to invite Jamaican sounds to clash musically; renowned for his musical clashes with David Rodigan and Black Scorpio back in the 80’s; early dancehall producer on his own King Dragon Label; host of an essential reggae show on Paris based radio Nova and finally one of the pioneers of internet radio (www.boomblast.com). His love for reggae is deep and for once his age is his advantage, because Zeljko can reach back in time where no other sound system can!
Saturday 20.00 – 22.00 King Dragon - Dancehall
Herb-A-lize It are Holland’s finest since ’95. What makes them special and gets our full respect is their intention not to play the same set twice, hence their adventurous selection of dub plates. Originators Stef and Sultan searched and found musical colleagues from the Antillians: Daddy Jim, D1 (Trinidad) and Fyahmunk (Saint Martin). Herb-A-lize It organize the ‘War inna di East’ events in Enschede, a dancehall highlight for every European clash fan. On the last edition Puma, mc on the American ‘killing machine’ LP International asked Herb-A-lize It on stage to clash together. After the cancellation of Babyface, Lp International had no competition with One Love Hi Power and they wanted Herb-A-lize It on stage to spice it up. Respect!
Friday - 19.30 – 21.15 & 22.45 – 23.00 Herb A lize it – Dancehall
Mystic Breeze Collective is one of the great ‘Beljam’ sounds operating from Belgian’s reggae capital Antwerp. In 2005 one-man sound ‘Mighty Nyah’, Kinja, Satva and Pachapapa began to work together and had immediate success with fine performances on Hove Live and Candela. They started organizing reggae events and received lots of positive critics with their ‘Haul and Pull Up’ and ‘Wake the Town’ evenings. In December 2010 they entered the soundclash arena and immediately won the first Beljam Cup Clash trophee!

Jahwed Sound have a history in Geel. In 2009 they won the Catch-a-mic competition, organized by Reggae Geel and Poppunt. Member Likkle Rhym had the opportunity to record a 7” which was released on Prince Jazzbo’s (Reggae Geel 2006) Ujama label. Jahwed Sound resident in Komen, on the border between the French and the Flemish part of Belgium. This makes them musically very interesting as they are not only influenced by the Jamaican vibes but also get lots of inspiration from the ever-growing reggae scene in the French Antilles.
Saturday - Dancehall
In 2010 Silver Bullet Sound already played at Reggae Geel and they’re back by popular demand. Sister Bullet left Africa in 2007 to start a new life in Belgium and alongside Tommy Trouble she started Silver Bullet Sound. In 2008 Joe-e-Joe, at that time one of the resident dj’s on the famous Hot Sunday Nights in Mondial (NL), joined them and in 2009 MC/selector Dmasta completed the crew. On the ‘five dubs and go’ event in 2009, organized as part of the Riddimclash, Silver Bullet established themselves as a major sound. The rest… is history!
Saturday - Dancehall
Heartbeat Movement played a great session earlier this summer at the Couleur Cafe festival and is planning to do even better at Reggae Geel. The Dilbeek based sound has been around since 1996 and have a reputation in the Belgian reggae scene for their bimonthly ‘Joyride’ bashments. Heartbeat Movement are selector/MC Ricky, selector Nesta, selector Dr Skatty and DJ Junior Vybz.
Saturday - Dancehall Jah Shaka is without discussion one of the most important persons in reggae history, an institute so to speak reigning over the dub scene for nearly 40 years. Conscious to his roots & dub background, Shaka single-handed kept the roots tradition alive during the dancehall supremacy that reigned over London, proving to be the inspiration for numerous artists and virtually every sound system. Without Shaka no Zion Train, Dreadzone or modern dub scene. Except for the fact that Jah Shaka made his first steps into music alongside one Freddie Cloudburst, there is little known about the man. Musically his status is legendary, not in the least fed by endless stories on the Shaka-dances where he easily blew away all competition. The ingredients: a picture of Haile Selassie, a custom-build powerful sound system, 1 turntable, lots of echo’s and effects and of course a massive collection of exclusive vynil. Add a chanting and dancing Shaka to all this and you end up with a legendary trance dance, a dub galore for the roots massive. Apart from his dances, Jah Shaka produced a huge catalogue of conscious dub music (his 10 releases in the ‘Commandments of Dub’ series regarded as essential) and worked together with artists such as Horace Andy, Aswad or Gregory Isaacs. Shaka delivered classic tunes such as ‘To Be Poor Is A Crime’ and ‘Revelation 18’ and marked the return of Horace Andy with his classic album ‘Fari - Captain Of My Ship’. On Reggae Geel, Jah Shaka will play on the 30KW custom build sound system of Blackboard Jungle.
Friday - 0.00- 03.00 Jah Shaka - 18 inch corner

OBF aka Original Bass Foundation is a French dub sound system that gained lots of success with their monthly ‘Dub Quake’ evenings in Geneva. By combining UK steppers with avant-garde dub, these selectors/producers made a huge impact on the modern dub scene all over Europe. Their sets are filled with energy, their dubs rough and without compromise. Dub as dub should be! They will be accompanied by MC’s Kenny Knots and Shanti D.
Saturday - 02.10 – 04.00 OBF live in the mix feat Shanti D & Kenny Knots – 18 inch corner
French warriors Blackboard Jungle return to Reggae Geel! Last year they delivered a great performance in our 18” Corner, this year they will bring along their impressive 30KW custom build sound system. For those of you who didn’t get it: thirty thousand watt filled with technical devices, scoops, amps, effects and a few miles of cables. Their sound system has been tested by the complete English dub aristocracy when visiting France. Most known events of course being the ‘Paris Dubstation’ events in Paris. Recently they have also been releasing their own productions. At Reggae Geel Blackboard Jungle will be accompanied by Jah Marnyah (fresh new London talent) and Ranking Joe (Jamaican veteran who took over from U-Roy).
Friday - 21.30- 00.00 Blackboardjungle feat. Jah marnyah & Ranking Joe – 18 inch corner
Rumor has been spread that The Mighty Jah Observer will quit the sound system business after this year, so this might be one of the last occasions to check out this London institute! They have been spreading their roots message since 1978 on the renowned Notting Hill Carnival, London’s annual Caribbean festival visited by over 1 million people. They were the first sound system to perform before an English punk audience and collaborated on the famous ‘Rock Against Rascism’ campaign in the late ‘70s. They stunted on Cannes’ Filmfestival when promoting UK reggae movie ‘Babylon’. It will be a great loss to see Spiderman, Tracey and the full crew retire from the ‘old time roots’ selection but on the other hand: let’s propose a toast pon di crew and wish them a ‘Happy Reggae Retirement’!
Friday - 19.00-21.30 Mighty Jah Observer – 18 inch corner
When Canadian Jesse King aka Dubmatix released his ‘Champion Sound Clash’ in 2004 he immediately gained lots of interest by reggae fans all over the world. He continued to create fine music by blending dub, electro and reggae. He also established himself as a great reggae producer, hence his works with Jamaican legends Alton Ellis, The Mighty Diamonds and Michael Rose. In 2010 Dubmatix received a Juno Award (Canadian music award) as best reggae producer. On his latest release ‘System Shakedown’ he worked together with dubheads such as Zion Train, Vibronics, Aldubb and Mungo’s Hifi. On this album you will also find ‘Happy’, a song he recorded with MC Tippa Irie, who will accompany Dubmatix on Reggae Geel.

More and more sounds and dj’s, producers, events and custom build sound system have seen the light. Kingstep is one of those revelations, proud to have built their own sound system. They are one of the rising sounds constantly proving that the Belgian sound system culture has its place in Europe. They will be accompanied by Terry Gad, MC on London’s ‘Trinity Sound System’ and a ‘legendary dancer’. Really, check his skills!

Clive Chin is a descendant of the legendary Chinese Chin family. His father Vincent build his reggae imperium by selling jukeboxes, opening a legendary music shop on 17th North Parade (remember the movie ‘Rockers’) and starting up Randy’s Studio 17, at one time the recording studio where virtually every reggae artists went recording. Clive worked in the studio as a producer, engineer, arranger and every now and then as a musician for artists such as The Wailers and Lee Perry. Augustus Pablo’s first hit ‘Java’ was produced by Clive Chin. He would continue in the reggae business producing great tunes for Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs and Junior Byles. If this isn’t a guarantee for a dj-set filled with ska, rocksteady and early reggae classics as deep as the Chinese Sea, well what is?
Saturday - 22.45 – 00.55 Clive Chin – Skaville Circus
Veteran Sugar Charlie has been spreading his exotic party tunes for... a… very long time. He used to be resident-dj at the Open Tropen Festival way back. He embodies music and is a long-time collector of reggae music (and Caribbean and African music).
Sugar Charlie will be accompanied by reggae activist Saimn-I: MC, dj and keyboard player with Pura Vida. In our Skaville Circus they will meet Wassie One in a ‘friendly battle’. They will both get the opportunity to impress us with their massive music collection. And it’ll be the opportunity to meet Wassie One, the ‘one man-year to year sound’.
Wassie 1, aka Twelve 12 began his career spinning tunes at the famous Blues Parties in London. They were actually Jamaican dances who lead up to the whole underground rave culture in the UK, organized in homes owned by Jamaicans with only one purpose: enjoying Jamaican music, Jamaican food and of course rum punch. They would last until dawn, or until Babylon aka the police thought it was enough. Wassie plays ‘The People’s Choice’, Jamaican music for all ages. After doing great Dennis Brown tributes and Independance Dances he became a resident-dj for 5 years already at the Brixton Splash, the festival for and by Jamaicans living in Brixton, Jamaica’s 2nd capital situated in London’s South-West.
Saturday - 02.10 – 04.00 Wassie 1 vs. Sugar Charlie & Saimn I – Skaville Circus
The Rocksteady Ratpack are 2 youths who explore the great treasures of rocksteady and ska and mix them for your party pleasure. We don’t know where they got their love for this great music, but their hometown is Kontich where the local Lintfabriek club has a reputation in programming great ska and rocksteady…
