NL: De European Reggae Contest, een initiatief van verschillende Europese reggae-festivals, is alweer aan een nieuwe editie toe. Door middel van regionale preselecties en een live-finale op het befaamde Rototom Sunsplash Festival, dat vanaf dit jaar georganiseerd zal worden in het Spaanse Benicàssim, wordt bepaald wie zich de beste Europese reggaeband mag noemen. Een heuse Europese tournee langs alle organiserende festivals, waaronder Reggae Geel, is zijn deel. Een mooiere kans om je muziekcarrière een duwtje in de rug te geven kan je je nauwelijks indenken.

Maar eerst zijn er dus de regionale preselecties. Voor de Benelux worden deze georganiseerd door Reggae Geel, Skinfama en M-Town Reggae. Alle live-bands binnen de genres reggae, dub, ska, ragga, dancehall, Afro-reggae en Samba-reggae komen in aanmerking voor deelname. Inschrijven is gratis en kan via www.reggaecontest.eu. Op dezelfde website kan je van 7 tot 28 mei terecht om te stemmen op jou favoriete band.

Op basis van deze online-voting en een beoordeling van de bands door een professionele jury, worden vier bands geselecteerd die kunnen deelnemen aan de regionale live-finale. Deze wordt gespeeld op vrijdag 18 juni in ‘De Muziekgieterij’ te Maastricht, Nederland. Ook hier staat er al heel wat op het spel. De winnaar van deze preselectie zal immers niet enkel de Europese finale in Spanje spelen, doch krijgt ook de kans om Reggae Geel 2010 te openen. Bovendien zal hij gedurende 1 jaar vertegenwoordigd worden door het Skinfama-agentschap.

The winner will get the privilege to perform at all organizing festivals throughout Europe, including Reggae Geel. By far a golden opportunity to boost your musical career.

But first things first: the regional preselections. In the Benelux they will be organized by Reggae Geel, Skinfama and M-Town Reggae. Every live band playing reggae, dub, ska, ragga, dancehall, Afro-reggae and Samba-reggae can enter the competition.
Bands can enter the competition for free on: www.reggaecontest.eu. Between may 7th and may 28th you can vote for your favorite band on that same website.

Based on an online-voting and on the appreciation by a professional jury, 4 bands will be selected to perform live at the regional final. This final will be held on friday june 18th at ‘The Muziekgieterij’ in the city of Maastricht, Holland. The winner of this preselection will play the European final in Spain, will be given the opportunity to open Reggae Geel 2010 and will be represented by the Skinfama agency for a whole year.

FR: Le ‘European Reggae Contest’ (ERC), initiative de plusieurs festivals reggae en Europe, est prêt pour une nouvelle édition. Par moyen de présélections régionales et une grande finale ‘live’ sur le podium du festival renommé de Rototom Sunsplash, qui cette année sera organisé dans la ville espagnole de Benicàssim, le ERC cherche le meilleur groupe reggae de l’Europe. Le vainqueur partira en tournée Européenne en passant par tous les festivals concernés, y compris Reggae Geel. Une opportunité magnifique pour le vainqueur de donner un vrai ‘boost’ à sa carrière musicale.

Mais d’abord donc les présélections régionales. La présélection pour le Benelux sera organisée par Reggae Geel, Skinfama et M-Town Reggae. Tous les groupes ‘live’ jouant du reggae, dub, ska, ragga, dancehall, Afro-reggae et Samba-reggae ont le droit de s’incrire. L’inscription est gratuite sur www.reggaecontest.eu. Entre le 7 mai et le 28 mai le même website sera ouvert pour voter sur son groupe favori.

Suivant le résultat du online-voting et l’examen des groupes par un jury professionel, 4 groupes seront sélectionnés pour la grande finale régionale. Cette finale aura lieu le vendredi 18 juin au ‘Muziekgieterij’ à Maastricht, Hollande. Finale importante, car le vainqueur jouera la finale européenne en Espagne et sera donné l’opportunité d’ouvrir Reggae Geel 2010. En plus, pendant un an le vainqueur sera representé par l’agence Skinfama.
