Reggae Geel 2009 is alweer voorbij…

Op vrijdag 31 juli feestten er 19 000 festivalgangers op de rhythms van o.a. Lady Saw, Glen Washington, Downbeat, Entebbe Sound en Bush Chemists.

Op zaterdag 1 augustus daagden er maar liefst 25 000 bezoekers op op onze terreinen!
Aan ons nieuwste podium, Skaville Circus, werd er geskankt op de fijne plaatjes van de Skaravans en werd er geluisterd naar de dubpoetry van Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze.
In de Bounce Dancehall werden, nadat Top Cat uitlegde hoe er geMC’t moet worden, CaShflow en D.Ju-Lion de winnaars van de ‘Catch a Mic’-contest en gierden allerlei tunes van verschillende soundsystems door de boxen.
Aan de 18” Corner vierde dub weer hoogtij met o.a. Young Warrior en Alpha & Omega.
Op de Mainstage gaven zowel nieuw talent als oude rotten in het vak het beste van zichzelf!  Anthony B, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Don Carlos & Dubvision, Ziggi & the Renaissance Band, ONESTY en Jr. Shaka (de ERC-winnaar) gaven zich helemaal.  Doordat Cocoa Tea, Turbulence en band hun vlucht in Jamaica misten, stonden Chakademus & Pliers op de Mainstage i.p.v. in de Bounce Dancehall.

De organisatie kijkt terug op een geslaagde editie van Reggae Geel!  Door de drukte waren er hier en daar wat ongemakken maar hopelijk had iedereen het erg goed naar zijn zin.

We willen iedere bezoeker, artiest, medewerker, sponsor, buurtbewoner, … bedanken om van Reggae Geel 2009 een succes te maken! 
Tot volgend jaar op vrijdag 6 en zaterdag 7 augustus 2010!!

The Reggae Geel 2009 edition is already over…

On Friday 31st July 19 000 festival-lovers partied on the rhythms of Lady Saw, Glen Washington, Downbeat, Entebbe Sound, Bush Chemists and others.

On Saturday 1st August 25 000 people showed up to party!
On our newest stage, Skaville Circus, visitors skanked on the finest tunes of Skaravans and listened to Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze’s dub poetry.
After Top Cat learned us how to MC in the Bounce Dancehall, CaShflow and D.Ju-Lion won our ‘Catch a Mic’-contest and five sound systems treated us with their fines tunes.
At the 18” Corner Young Warrior, Alpha & Omega int.al. immersed us in a great dubbath.
At the Mainstage young and old talent played at their best for Reggae Geel.  Anthony B, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Don Carlos & Dubvision, Ziggi & the Renaissance Band, ONESTY and Jr. Shaka (the ERC-winner) gave us a great show. Cocoa Tea, Turbulence and their band missed their plane in Jamaica, so Chakademus & Pliers performed on the Mainstage instead of the Bounce Dancehall.

The organization looks back on a very excellent edition of Reggae Geel!  Because of the big crowd some discomforts occurred, hopefully that didn't spoil the party.

We would like to thank every visitor, artist, volunteer, sponsor, neighbour... to make a big success of Reggae Geel 2009! 
See you all next year on Friday the 6th of August and Saturday the 7th of August 2010!!

(NED) Wil je meewerken aan Reggae Geel? Dan kan je deel uitmaken van ons Ecoteam! Op vrijdag en zaterdag, tussen 11u en 22u, wordt afval selectief verzameld, vuilzakken uitgedeeld en bekers verzameld.
Je krijgt hiervoor een weekendticket en gratis eet- en drankbonnen.

(ENG) Would you like to contribute to Reggae Geel? Then join our Eco team! On friday and saturday, between 11 AM and 22 PM, we collect waste and sort it, we distribute trash bags and we gather goblets.
In return you will receive a weekend ticket and drinking and eating vouchers.

(NED) Even een korte stand van zaken: zoals jullie al zagen op deze website maar ook via tal van andere kanalen en op plakpalen, is de line-up van Reggae Geel 2009 compleet!  Het beloofd weer een geweldig feestje te worden op onze vier podia: Mainstage, Bounce Dancehall, 18" Corner en nieuw vanaf dit jaar: Skaville Circus!

De voorbereidingen verlopen vlot.  De organisatie en medewerkers van Reggae Geel zijn klaar voor een nieuwe editie!  Nog een paar weken en het is zo ver!

Een naam op onze affiche was nog niet ingevuld: deze van de winnaar van de 'European Reggae Contest'.
Op 4 en 5 juli vonden de finales plaats van deze wedstrijd op Rototom Sunsplash in Osoppo, Italie.
Junior Tshaka werd uitgekozen tot winnaar van de ERC!
Net zoals in 2008 wonnen de Zwitserse deelnemers.  Proficiat aan de band!
Junior Tshaka zal de Mainstage van Reggae Geel openen op zaterdag 1 augustus.

(ENG) As you probably have seen, the line-up of Reggae Geel 2009 is complete!  Lots of artists, bands and soundsystems will play on our four stages: Mainstage, Bounce Dancehall, 18" Corner and new this year: Skaville Circus!

The organisation and crew of Reggae Geel is ready for a new edition of Reggae Geel!  In just a few weeks we will kick of our festival!

One name of our line-up wasn't filled in, that's the name of the winner of the 'European Reggae Contest'.
On July 4 and 5 the finales of this contest took place at Rototom Sunsplash in Osoppo in Italy.
The ERC-winner 2009 is "Junior Tshaka"!  Just as last year the Swiss entry has won the competition!  Congratulations to the band!
Junior Tshaka will open the Mainstage of Reggae Geel on Saterday 1st August!

(NED) Eindelijk weten we wie de regio BeNeLux-UK-Ierland zal vertegenwoordigen in de finale van de ERC op het Italiaanse Rototom Sunsplash Festival.
Het is het Nederlandse 'Punky Donch' geworden (http://www.myspace.com/punkydonch). Proficiat en succes in Italië!
De Belgen van 'Zionyouth' (http://www.myspace.com/zionyouth1), vorig jaar nog opener van het hoofdpodium op Reggae Geel, werd een eerbare tweede.
 
Bedankt ook aan iedereen die zijn stem uitbracht en zo zijn favoriete band ondersteunde.
 
(ENG) Finally we know who will represent the area BeNeLux-UK-Ireland in the finales of the ERC at Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Italy.

Belgian band 'Zionyouth' (http://www.myspace.com/zionyouth1), last year opener on the mainstage of Reggae Geel, became second.

(NED) De vorige 30 edities deden we het zonder, maar vanaf dit jaar zal er een VOORVERKOOP voor het festival georganiseerd worden. Tickets kan je online bestellen via de Pre-sale pagina onze website. De voorverkoop start op 15 mei. Een dagticket kost € 15, voor een weekendticket betaal je € 25 ( telkens + reservatiekost).
Aan de kassa kosten de tickets € 25 per dag en € 35 voor de twee festivaldagen.

(ENG) For the first time in the history of the festival, we will organise a PRE-SALE. Tickets can be purchased online via the Pre-sale page on our the website. Pre-sale will start on the 15th of may. A one-day ticket will cost you € 15, for a weekendticket you'll pay € 25 (plus reservation costs).
At the entrance a one-day ticket will cost € 25, a weekendticket will cost you € 35.
