One of Belgium’s most radiant storytellers and vocal voices, Dalilla wears so many hats it’s hard to keep track: writer, theatre-maker, illustrator, podcaster, columnist, curator, VUB honorary fellow… the list goes on. Since 2017, she’s published seven books, written countless columns for national newspapers, and given more than 400 lectures globally

Her latest project? In February 2025, her play Wij/Zij, co-created and performed with her husband Willem, premiered at Arenberg. That’s right: she’s bringing live stories to life on stage. Additionally, she has been a courageous anti-racism activist—leaving trolls speechless—and even served as a juror on the Libris Literature Prize 2024. She speaks truth to power, uses her platforms to condemn society’s injustices, and isn’t afraid to rattle the cage when the cage needs rattling.
